Orphanages around the world are full of children with special needs. Whether due to poverty or intense stigma, many parents feel that they have no option but to place their child with special needs into an orphanage.
But every child deserves the medical and special care to be healthy and reach their fullest potential. That’s why we have the Molly Holt Fund. Named after the daughter of Holt’s founders, Molly Holt was a nurse who dedicated her life to caring for children who were sick and had special needs.
Today, Holt donors continue her legacy by helping to give children with special needs in orphanages the medical care, medications, therapies and specialized care they need to grow and thrive.
Here are just some of the most common special needs in orphanages — and the care Holt donors help provide to them:

Dear Holt International,
Thanks so much for highlighting the condition of Beta Thalassemia. I love your welcoming ad with the children hugging. Our daughter Grace is one of those children that God used Holt International, as well as the Chinese orphanage to save. Thank you to those who donate to this important work; and even more so to the individuals and families who adopt these wonderful children.
Our daughter Grace both ran cross country and swam at Vacaville Christian in High School.
Was it always easy for her in sports? No, But the memory was priceless when Grace placed in the top 20 of a high school cross country meet and won a medal. The assistant track coach (a medical doctor) with tears in his eyes said to her “Do you know how difficult what you have just done is?” The picture of her smiling with a medal around her neck is one of my favorites. Today, Grace is a happy, healthy 19 year old pre-nursing student at CalBaptist University.
We are so proud of all the parents who take the step of adoption and join us on this journey!
Sincerely,
Michael Richard and Chanie Richard
Proud parents of Grace and Tim
